Avalanche Car Pic

The 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche is created by Chevrolet. After several years of R&D, the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche was finally launched in the year 2007.

Avalanche’s efficiency is enhanced in ’09 with the new, fuel-saving six-speed automatic transmission that is standard on all models. The advanced, Hydra-Matic 6L80 transmission helps deliver improved highway fuel mileage by incorporating two overdrive gears (fifth and sixth gears) that allow the engine to operate at a lower speed on the highway. Less fuel is used when the engine rpm is lowered, enhancing fuel economy. The lower engine speed also contributes to a quieter passenger environment.
“There’s no other vehicle that offers the spaciousness and versatility of the Avalanche,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “With technologies such as Active Fuel Management and its high towing rating, the Avalanche delivers effortlesscapability with surprising efficiency.”
New technologies that enhance safety are also added to the Avalanche for 2009, including Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity with specific steering wheel controls, and an available rear camera system that can be displayed in either the inside review mirror or the Navigation display depending on radio choice. These new features complement an already strong package of standard safety items, such as head curtain side-impact air bags and StabiliTrak electronic stability control system.

New features for 2009
In addition to the new six-speed automatic transmission, a host of new features and revisions across the lineup gives Avalanche customers more choices. The changes for ’09 include the following:

* New 20-inch chrome-clad wheel – This new wheel design is available on LTZ models
* New exterior colors – White Diamond Tricoat is available on LTZ; Inferno Orange replaces Sunburst Orange and later in the model year, Dark Brahma Jewel will be available in limited quantity
* OnStar 8.0 – The latest-generation OnStar system offers advanced features, including Stolen Vehicle Slow Down, Turn-by-Turn Navigation, and new Destination Download that automatic downloads requested directions to the navigation system
* Bluetooth connectivity – This wireless technology enables safer, hands-free calling, with specific steering wheel controls through either OnStar or a Bluetooth-enabled phone
* XM Satellite Radio with NavTraffic – Available with the standard XM Satellite Radio service, the new NavTraffic feature delivers real-time traffic advisements and route suggestions into the optional navigation system
* LTZ Enhancements – Standard on LTZ models:
o Heated and cooled 12-way power memory seats
o Perforated leather-trimmed seating surfaces
o New body-side moldings with chrome accent strip
o New rear fascia with chrome accent strip and trailer hitch cover
o Centerpoint Surround Sound Bose speaker system
o New sill plates with embossed “Chevrolet” logo
* New outside mirror glass – A new “Razor” LED design for the turn signals is incorporated in the mirror glass for LTZ models and 2LT models with the luxury package

Front side airbags are optional instead of standard for 2003, and Avalanche is now available without bodyside cladding. This SUV/pickup crossover is based on Chevrolet’s full-size Suburban wagon. It has four full-size side doors and a “midgate” separating cab from cargo bed. Lowering the midgate and rear seat extends the 5.3-ft cargo box to 8.1 ft. The rear window also removes and stores onboard. Avalanche comes as a half-ton 1500 model with a 5.3-liter V8 and as a heavy-duty 2500 with an 8.1-liter V8. Each offers rear-wheel drive with optional traction control or GM’s Autotrac 4WD that can be left engaged on dry pavement and includes low-range gearing. All models have automatic transmission, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, and standard seating for six. Options admit heated front bucketful seats, leather upholstery, and a sunroof. For 2003, Avalanche gets a redesigned dashboard and an optional rear-seat DVD-video amusement system. Front side airbags ar now part of an $875 Personal Security option that also includes OnStar assistance. A $600 credit option for 1500 models, the new “Without Body Hardware” package deletes the plastic cladding on the lower body and wheel flares. Among other new options ar power-adjustable brake and accelerator pedals and XM satellite radio. On 1500s, a Z71 Off-Road suspension is available with 4WD; with 2WD, a Z66 on-road package brings traction control and a sport suspension with rear self-leveling. Cadillac’s Escalade EXT is a luxury Avalanche with different styling, more power, and standard all-wheel drive.
With the advent of crossover vehicles, this segment has become less defined. Once the domain of work-related heavy-duty pickups, buyers ar now demanding that their full-size trucks do double duty. Our Best Buys remain Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150, and GMC Sierra. These trucks offer a wide range of powertrain combinations, plenty of luxury accommodations, and ample towing power–though the GM twins are the only ones to offer full-time 4WD and commodious 4-wheel steering.

Big-rig-styled Dodge Ram matches the new Ford and GM models in most aspects but can’t match their ride comfort or civility. We also like the expensive Toyota Tundra. What it lacks in brute strength, it more than makes up for with refined road manners.
